Year 8 is a very exciting time for our students, now they have taken the first steps in their secondary education it is time to reflect on who they had become in year 7 and whether this is their ideal self. If not, no problem! Year 8 allows them the time to reinvent themselves, to find out who they want to be and who would make them proud and make the choices to lead them there.
This is the time for us to become involved in school life, to show that we are not just going to stand by the side as the World changes around us; instead, it is time to show that we want to make the change possible. There are countless opportunities in school for the Year 8 students to be involved in such as, student voice, drama, dance and music performances, after-school clubs, sporting activities and trips. It is our time to get involved and to Think Big.
We hold very high expectations of our Year 8 students and expect them to be organised and committed to what they do in school. With the help of parents, we hope to provide the perfect environment for learning, where every student is supported and pushed to achieve their goals. By working together as a team, we can ensure Success for All.
Year 8 must maintain high levels of attendance and punctuality, as this is vital on the road to success. Lateness and missed days lead to missed opportunities. At JRCS we follow a strict attendance policy and this will continue throughout Year 8. We ask that parents call in and let the school know if their child is going to be absent and send a note in on their return. We will monitor any student whose attendance falls below 95%.
We enjoy celebrating our successes and do this regularly both in our Year Team Assemblies and in Tutor Time. On the Report Ranking section, you will find the names of the latest students to have achieved the best scores in mindset, behaviour and homework.
