Year 9 is a significant year for all students as they will be picking their options and encouraged to start thinking about career choices. Students will be offered support and guidance to make informed decisions about what subjects to take to prepare them for life beyond school. Students in Year 9 will be expected to demonstrate their role as ambassadors for the school and work continuously hard to maintain high standards for themselves by engaging in all learning opportunities.
We encourage students to develop all aspects of their character whether it is through their academic, creative or sporting achievements so that every student develops into a well-rounded individual. JRCS prides itself on the motto ‘Success for All’ and a committed team of tutors and pastoral staff are dedicated to overseeing the progress and well-being of all students to ensure that they achieve to the very best of their abilities. The team has a range of experience and have the ability to give the best guidance to students to support them as they make important decisions that may impact their futures.
The tutor time programme is essential in ensuring all students feel welcome at the beginning of the day. The classroom activities provide students with a platform to develop closer bonds within their form whilst organising, inspiring and re-focussing students before they start lessons. At the start and end of every school day, the tutor will see the students at registration, monitor their achievements throughout the day and intercept any concerns that they may have so that students feel fully supported.
We work alongside staff, parents and students;
- To preserve good study habits and routines
- To monitor academic progress throughout the year
- To promote excellent levels of attendance
