Mobile phones
Reminder that mobile phones are considered banned items in our Behaviour Management Policy.
From September smartphones are completely banned for KS3 students (Year 7, 8 and 9) in school. If students are found to have brought a smart phone into school, even if they are turned off and in their bags, they will be confiscated. We would prefer that students do not bring a mobile phone into school. However, if parents/carers would like their child to have a phone for safety reasons, students may bring a dumb/brick phone (phone without internet or camera) into school. These should be turned off and placed in their bag as they walk into the school and should not be accessed until they have left the school site. If any phone is seen out of a student’s bag or in use during the day, they will be confiscated for 24 hours in the first instance and for five days if this happens a second time.
The rules for students in KS4 and KS5 will remain the same as currently but will be kept under review. Students may bring their smart phone to school, but it must be switched off and in their bags and must never be seen or heard in the school building.
We are aiming to be a smart phone free school for KS3 and KS4 students by 2028.
