22 May Malcolm Clark’s Studio
Well done!
studio.
Malcolm Clark’s studio, based in the Eastbrook Studio Lot, hosted a day where the eleven students learned about camera operation, how to take a good photo and lighting techniques.
The building on the lot used to be a pharmaceutical factory and has been repurposed as a creative hub. Its unique look means it makes a great location for filming. Recently, 50 Cent filmed in the building for his new boxing drama, Fightland. The students also saw a room used in the Stranger Things series and met make-up and hair artists at the Final Calls Academy who have worked with KSI, Idris Elba and even King Charles.
In the afternoon the students were able to put their learning into action, conducting photoshoots, changing lighting and setting and utilising costumes and props. This was a fantastic experience and many of the students said it made them rethink a career in the creative media industries. Malcolm was very accommodating and taught the students techniques they can use in their personal photography and also in their Media Studies coursework.
Miss Harland, Head of Media, said “We are very lucky Malcolm let us visit his studio. The students were really enthusiastic and grateful for the day. Their behaviour was brilliant. I’d also like to thank Miss Muhidin for all her support on the visit.”
