16 Dec Year 12 and 13 A Level Media Trip
Well done!
On Friday 8th November, Year 12 and 13 A-Level Media Students travelled into London to participate in a Media theory conference at the BFI Southbank. The lead speaker travelled in from Nigeria and engaged pupils by focussing on key ideas from critical perspectives and identified and explored the effect of these on texts and audiences through the lens of the various theorists that they are studying.
We were then joined by guest speaker, Sophia Satchell Baeza, for an insightful interview and
Q&A. Sophia is a film critic, film programmer and Senior Managing Editor at MUBI. She writes on film for Sight & Sound, MUBI Notebook, and Art Review. This was a fantastic opportunity, and all the students engaged in an interesting debate around feminism in the industry and the impact of misogyny on Media products.
It was an interesting and educational experience that we all enjoyed.
