Hello students and families, Welcome to Jo Richardson and welcome to Year 7! Year 7 is an exciting and crucial time for our students, and I am confident that you will be able to find success and thrive as individuals here. My name is Ms Matin and as well as being a history teacher here, I will be your Head of Year when you join us in September. I am a strong believer of opportunities encouraging aspiration and hope that students join JRCS with hopes to make the most of opportunities available, as there will be plenty to take part in.
The start of this academic year is a good time to build strong foundations and to keep our standards high. The systems that you will soon be familiar with are all designed to get the best outcome for you, alongside ensuring you receive ample support. You will soon be familiar with our ethos of the 5R’s which cultivates what the JRCS community is all about. You have already shown your resilience after a tough year and I would like you to aspire to Stay Positive in your attitude both in the classroom and out. I want you to Take Opportunities to widen your experiences and I want us all to be the BEST versions of ourselves, with our best foot forward.
We have sent you, via post, our Welcome pack. The pack included:
Parental booklet, including pages from the student planner with information on uniform, times of the school day, equipment, attendance and punctuality;
‘All About Me’ booklet, This booklet is an opportunity for our new students to answer a series of questions about themselves that will provide us with more information so that we can get to know them better when they first join us at JRCS. Please ensure this is completed and that students bring it with them to New Intake Evening;
‘Power of Words’ information from our English department, including guidance on ways of supporting vital literacy skills for secondary school at home;
