In The Jo Richardson Community School Sixth Form we have a wealth of professional expertise, challenging courses and stimulating activities to ensure your success on your chosen pathway. We are uncompromising about achieving our goal of “Success for All”. Our dedicated staff make sure that students gain excellent results and develop a range of mature skills and attitudes in tune with the school’s ACHIEVE agenda.

Our subject staff are well qualified to teach A level and vocational courses and excel in bringing out the best in all the students they work with. They are dedicated to working hard with you and providing a high level of professional teaching. There are staff responsible for the mentoring and care of students through a tutor group system and a range of opportunities for one-to-one guidance and support.

We want our students to feel happy, secure and enjoy coming to school. We are committed to forming positive relationships with parents and keeping them informed of students’ targets and progress.  Alongside our extensive range of A level courses we also offer practical, work-related courses. There are opportunities for community service, young enterprise, sport, music, drama, university visits, careers advice and plenty of social events. We provide a programme of academic events to improve your study skills, boosting your chances of getting to university, gaining an apprenticeship and building your self-confidence. We also work closely with other sixth forms in the area.

Colin Pond Scholarship

Each year the top achieving five/six Year 11s who move into JRCS Sixth Form are awarded the Colin Pond Scholarship.

There is a ceremony where the Colin Pond Scholars from each of Barking and Dagenham’s school sixth forms receive their awards. Their proud parents and staff attend as well.

The award itself is £300. Students use this in a range of different ways: some save it for the future, others put it towards lap tops, driving lessons, books or courses.
