Year 7 is both an exciting and important time for our students. They are at the beginning of their secondary education and this brings with it a new world of opportunities and experiences.
This is the time for us to build good foundations. We have very high expectations of our Year 7s and expect them to be diligent and organised so that they can be successful learners. We work alongside parents and welcome their support to ensure students come to school ready to learn. We have a very strong team ethos in Year 7. We believe in the importance of working together and supporting each other in order to achieve our full potential.
We expect our Year 7 students to have excellent attendance and punctuality. Good attendance is vital in ensuring that students have continuity in their learning. At JRCS we follow a rigorous attendance policy and contact parents if there are concerns. We ask that parents call in and let the school know if their child is going to be absent and send a note in on their return. We will monitor any student whose attendance falls below 95%.
Year 7 is a great time to take advantage of all the opportunities the school has to offer. There are wide ranges of extra-curricular activities at lunch time and after school every day. There are musical events as well as drama and dance performances every year, not to mention a variety of different trips including our ACHIEVE days. In addition, we have one of the best Student Voice teams in the whole of the UK.
We enjoy celebrating our successes and do this regularly both in our Year Team Assemblies and in Tutor Time. On the Report Ranking section you will find the names of the latest students to have achieved the best scores in mindset, behaviour and homework.
