18 Jun A Fond Year 13 Farewell
Last Wednesday (9th June) we said our farewell to Year 13 at their Leavers’ Assembly. Some of the students have been at JRCS for seven years and others joined us for an amazing two years of the Sixth Form.
All students have persevered and developed in a programme that has not quite been what they, or we, imagined when they started the Sixth Form in September 2019!
During the assembly students reminisced on their fashion sense from further down the school with some “golden oldie” photos and realised how they have made the most of what has been possible during their two years in the Sixth Form. Tutors gave personal tributes to their tutor groups and reflected on how our young students had matured into amazing young adults and are ready to go out and face the world.
Mrs Evans and Miss Campbell referenced particularly, in their speeches, the determination and resilience shown through the two years and how they have so many skills compared to others that have not experienced such an unpredictable time during studies and how they will fall back on these in future life, being stronger for it. Mrs Wren’s guidance with their university decisions will hopefully make the next transition smooth. The help and support for those going into work or apprenticeship is continuing, with two high profile degree apprenticeships already achieved.
Obviously, two highlights of the event were the “Year 13 Wave”, which was successfully completed in all directions, and the finale of an ice-cream from the van outside!
Although sad to see them go, we know they are set up to take the world by storm – watch out world! The whole Sixth Form team wish them strength, fun and success.
Miss Campbell
Deputy Director of Sixth Form
Head of Year 13
