18 Jun Bronze D of E training heats up!
On Wednesday 16th June Mr Kilminster and I had the pleasure of working together with seven students who work closely with the Student Development Department to complete a training day for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE). These students have been waiting to do their expedition since Year 9 when their planned expedition work had to be postponed due to Covid. The students involved were all in Year 10, Alessia, Enis, Rahim, Mason, Leon, Porscha and Justin. Despite it being a very hot day on Wednesday, the group came well prepared with lots to drink, hats and sunscreen and some very cool shades (especially Rahim and Enis). They paced themselves well in the heat and took full advantage of stops in the shade. They all had a turn at navigating and leading the group and sharpened up their map skills ready for their qualifying expedition which takes place on Monday and Tuesday 28th and 29th June. We wish them all the very best, and hopefully some slightly cooler weather.
Many thanks to all the students for their excellent attitude and behaviour throughout the day and also to Mr Kilminster for his excellent guidance of the group.
Ms Montague
DofE Manager
