02 Nov Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Performance
Year 11 students were given the opportunity to see a performance of the GCSE text ‘Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’ for their Literature Paper 1 exam. The FRED Theatre Company specialise in giving performances specifically tailored for GCSE texts and give accurate representations of the text, allowing students to prepare for their upcoming mocks at the end of the term. As a Victorian text, some of the concepts and language explored can be particularly difficult to grasp and so this experience will be an invaluable revision tool for students, giving them a chance to access the narrative from a different perspective.
After the performance, students were praised highly by the theatre company and they even stated that JRCS is the best school they have attended in terms of behaviour. Students are encouraged to use their knowledge of the text and this performance to think independently about different interpretations of themes and characters explored in the novella. We hope that it will encourage Year 11 to begin their revision early and give them even more enthusiasm for such a brilliant text.
Thank you to all staff and students involved in the performance, as well as the company, for giving Year 11 such a valuable experience.
