13 Feb Drama Students Take the Lead
Well done!
Earlier this term, 30 Drama students from Years 11, 12 and 13 took part in the Take the Lead programme, a year-long initiative designed to develop confidence, communication and employability skills through creative practice. Run in partnership with The Old Vic Theatre, the programme gives students the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals, take part in inspiring workshops, and explore how drama skills translate directly into the world of work.
The launch of the programme was a fantastic day out in London, including workshops led by Old Vic facilitators and talks from professionals about their career journeys. A particular highlight for our students was their visit to the Royal Bank of Canada where they took part in a workshop focused on real world employability skills such as CV writing, interview techniques and networking. The students approached every challenge with enthusiasm, maturity and professionalism.
Throughout the day, our students were outstanding! Fully engaged, supportive of one another and confident in unfamiliar environments. They represented the school impeccably and were exemplary ambassadors, doing the Drama department extremely proud. Most importantly, the students absolutely loved the experience. They gained confidence, built new skills, met students from other schools and left feeling inspired about their future pathways, both within and beyond the arts. A huge thank you to all staff, partners and organisers who made this opportunity possible. We are very excited to see how our students continue to grow as the Take the Lead journey unfolds.
