Year 8: Thank you to all those in Year 8 who have been enquiring about starting their award in Year 9, it’s fantastic to see such enthusiasm for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.  There will be a meeting at 1:40pm on Thursday 5^th May in Boothroyd Hall for all those who want to start their award in Year 9.  If you are in school on this day then you must come to this meeting in order to progress with your award application.  If you have an authorised absence on this day or are off sick – please let me know as soon as possible on your return.  At this meeting, you will find out more about the award and receive a copy of the application form.

Year 9: There is an important meeting on Tuesday 26^th April for all those currently involved in the Age Range Pilot at 1:45pm in RS1.  You must come along to this meeting if you want to carry on with your award in Year 10.  There will also be a session after school in IT1 3:20 – 4:30pm for anyone who needs support with their eDofE account.  For those in Year 9 not currently involved in the Age Range Pilot but who have requested to do D of E Silver award in Year 10 and 11 through the options booklet there will be a meeting on Tuesday 10^th May at 1:40pm in Boothroyd Hall.  Please note that you must attend this meeting if you want to continue with your award application.  If you have an authorised absence on this day or are off sick – please let me know as soon as possible on your return.  At this meeting you will find out more about the award and receive a copy of the application form.

Year 10 – Bronze Award: Dates for this half term are as follows, unless otherwise stated all Tuesday sessions are 3:30 – 5:00pm in the Food and Catering Department:

Tuesday 3^rd May 2016 – E – H – Eastbrookend navigation practice, A – D Packing a rucksack

Tuesday 10^th May 2016 – J group only A – D (MON) – kit issue and menu planning for practice expedition.

Friday and Saturday 13^th and 14^th May – J cohort (A-D) – practice expedition – Enfield and Lea Valley (departing 1:30pm return 5-6pm)

Tuesday 17^th May 2016 – A – D return kit (8am) and review practice expedition, E-H kit issue and menu planning for practice expedition.

Friday and Saturday 20^th and 21^st May – R cohort (E-H) – practice expedition – Enfield and Lea Valley (departing 1:30pm return 5 – 6pm)

Tuesday 24^th May 2016 – E-H return kit (8am) and review practice expedition.

Year 11 – Silver Award: Following the practice expedition over Easter make sure that you keep up your fitness efforts in preparation for your qualifying expedition.  Remember we are meeting promptly each Thursday at 7:30am in Castle Green foyer this half term.

Year 12 – Gold Award: We will meet on 4^th, 11^th, 18^th and 25^th May this half term 2-3pm in SF1.  Please let me know if you are unable to attend any of these sessions.  Please note the earlier start time due to a commitment that I have after school each Wednesday.

Finally – Let’s Celebrate!: The Annual celebration event for all those who have gained awards in the last 12 months will be taking place at Barking Town Hall 5:45 – 7pm on Wednesday 27^th April.  If there are any students who need last minute help completing their awards and uploading evidence to eDofE I will be in IT 1 from 3:20 – 4:30pm on Tuesday 26^th April.
