11 Mar First Aid Course
Year 12 Health and Social Care class took part in a first aid course.
On Wednesday 2nd March, the Year 12 Health and Social Care class took part in a first aid course. We started the day learning about the recovery position and what to do if a person has fainted. It is important to put an individual who has passed out and is breathing into the recovery position in case they choke on bodily fluids or their tongue. We learnt about how to dress cuts with bandages and what must be done depending on how the cut happened. We also discovered how to manage burns and how to help a choking victim. Finally, we ended the course by learning how to conduct CPR.
We found the first aid training beneficial due to the fact that it related very well to the course that we are studying as some of us are keen to become health care assistants and midwives. We also felt that the course gave us knowledge and confidence to take control over situations that many may not be able to respond to with regards to injuries sustained. The trainer was a great teacher who has opened many doors for us in the future and helped us to gain our first aid certificates.
