04 Apr Herbert Smith Freehills Networked Scholarship Scheme Careers Network Day – Tuesday 4th March 2025
Well done!
JRCS Year 12 students are offered an amazing opportunity every year through our partnership with Herbert Smith Freehills.
Students hear from the firm about the Networked Scholarship Scheme that they can be part of, and which can help them onto the pathway of a successful future city career.
This year, seven of our current Year 12 students were successful in the internal selection process to go onto the main Scholarship Scheme selection route. The first step of this was to attend the Careers Network Day at HSF’s London headquarters based at Liverpool Street.
The students met in a conference room with students from the other four invited schools. During the morning, they found out about HSF, what type of law they practise and also the large range of non-law-based jobs they have in the company. After this the students had the chance to “speed-date” a number of the employees from a range of departments.
This was particularly interesting for the students to get some greater information about what it is like to work in a law environment and in our great city. They were also spoken to by Partner Rachel Lidgate, who gave more information about how passionate the firm are about the scholarship programme and also some personal insights to her pathway to such a prestigious role.
During the afternoon, the students heard from four students who are either currently on the programme or have just graduated, including our very own Samuel Adetoyese who started the programme in 2020! They gave a really helpful student viewpoint of the scheme and some useful tips for the next step – the application.
Our students also have the opportunity to speak to Katelyn in our current Year 13 who has just started in the new cohort in September 2024.
Our students: Hallie, Adriana, Carolina, Denisa, Vilte, Mia and Kaleb were a real credit to the school, held their own in discussions, asked some powerful and insightful questions and stand an excellent chance of being awarded a scholarship place.
Watch this space for news on how they find the interview workshop day and the outcomes of their applications.
