06 Dec JRCS Dance notices
JRCS Dance started the academic year with auditions for Wings Dance Academy where we welcomed four new members – Rebeca, Harpreet, Tayte and Elvinas. Congratulations!
The next set of auditions will be on Tuesday 21st January 2020 (ask Miss England for details).
Wings Dancers have performed in a few assemblies already this year including a choreography based on raising awareness for Mental Health week. The dancers performed beautifully and are experimenting with several styles whilst preparing for a show in Brighton this coming January and pieces for the Christmas show next week.
A group of KS3 students were chosen to attend a Dance Careers Day trip last month hosted by Laban and Trinity Centres for advanced dance training. Students were able to take part in technical workshops and learn about the array of jobs that dance can lead to.
Every Thursday we have Hip Hop Dance Classes held by Nathan, an experienced professional Hip Hop teacher and performer. The students have worked tremendously hard and developed in their focus, skill and technique over just a few weeks.
The GCSE Dance students attended a day of workshops with Boy Blue Dance Company and James Cousins Dance Company at The Laban Centre in Greenwich recently. The students were lucky enough to learn straight from the company’s professional dancers while working in the outstanding space that is Laban.
