06 Dec JRCS Pride and Allies
Bake Off Competition
JRCS Pride and Allies have entered the Educate and Celebrate annual bake off competition. They spent a session decorating this masterpiece, representing the theme “Change Starts With Us”. You can see homophobes being squashed by the celebratory cake.
Now we need your help! Voting has begun for the best cake and we need all the votes we can get! Please click on: https://poll.app.do/edu-cake-cel-a-bake-great-rainbow-bake-off-2019/QXptIh5F
Nifemi said “Remember, be happy. Whatever you feel and whoever you love, you should be happy.”
Majid said “I had fun making the cake and I did it because I want to tell people that it is fine being LGBT and just because you support LGBT doesn’t mean you are gay.”
Eva said “Change starts with us! We have to be strong and stand up for what is right.”
Noor said “When you are not homophobic, you get delicious cake”.
Jo Richardson celebrates and supports all students, however they choose to identify. The Pride group was formed to help support students struggling with their identity but also to normalise and celebrate the LGBT+ community.
Ms Harland said “JRCS Pride and Allies is a lovely community and growing stronger each day. We want a safe and inviting space for people to come without fear or judgement.”
JRCS Pride and Allies are also looking for role models from KS4 and 5 to join the group – MS2, Wednesdays, 1:30pm.
Thank you for all your support of the LGBT+ community at JRCS.
Ms Harland
