02 Jul JRCS Pride and Allies
The Pride Youth Network
On Wednesday 30th June, Ms Harland joined a panel of teachers and Headteachers who have set up Pride Youth Network groups in schools. She spoke about the similarities and differences between starting a Pride group at an independent college and a state school, the benefits of having a Pride group at school and the value it brings to the students and staff. Ms Harland also gave advice to other students and teachers around the country on starting their own Pride groups. The Pride Youth Network is a branch of Educate & Celebrate, a charity who help schools normalise LGBT+ supportive curriculums. Ms Harland praised Mr Hinchcliffe and the History Department for their excellent resources created for LGBT+ History Month and Pride Month. The annual conference had speakers from primary and secondary schools across the country and a very interesting and enlightening discussion of trans awareness in sports. JRCS Pride and Allies is online because of Covid restrictions. If any student wishes to join, please email or come to see Ms Harland. JRCS is, and always will be, an inclusive school.
