Pearson Silver Award Success & Thank A Teacher Day
On Wednesday 23rd June our wonderful staff at JRCS celebrated National ‘Thank a Teacher’ day, which is dedicated to recognising the hard work and effort provided by educators and support staff.
Our incredible Year 12 BTEC Business students, along with our talented Business Department led by Miss Wright, hosted our very own afternoon tea awards ceremony, an event which honoured our staff and their efforts during one of the most challenging years. Students shared thoughtful comments of commendation via postcards with staff and thanked them for going the extra mile.
Alongside this, the school was joined by the BBC to showcase and commend our Headteacher, Mr Smith, for his dedicated service in education. Selected from thousands of nominations, Mr Smith has been chosen as one of 102 Pearson National Teaching Silver Award winners across the country. Mr Smith was honoured with a Silver Award in The Award for Lifetime Achievement for his outstanding commitment to changing the lives
of the children he has worked with over the past 38 years.
The Silver Award winners are being honoured as part of the wider celebrations for ‘Thank a Teacher Day’, a national campaign to honour and recognise school staff for their incredible work. Mr Smith has now been shortlisted to win one of just 15 Gold Awards later in the year, in a programme which will be broadcast on the BBC. This is a great opportunity to celebrate the exceptional school staff who have worked wonders during an incredibly challenging time for educators across the country.
I am sure you will join us in wishing Mr Smith the best of luck and thank him again for his contribution to the school and wider community.
