09 Jul Saying goodbye to Year 11 and hello to new beginnings
Work Hard. Be Nice. Take Opportunities.
On Monday 7th June it was time to say our final farewell to the best year group (no bias from me at all!). They came in, signed shirts, enjoyed a wonderful celebration assembly, and released eco-friendly balloons into the atmosphere to signify the end of KS4 at JRCS. During the assembly we heard from Mr Smith who commended the year group on their resilience to complete their GCSEs amid the pandemic and their humility. Our Head Girl Rachel and Head Boy John also spoke fondly of the year group and how they had become a large bubble of support for one another throughout their time here.
As you will know, we have had to cancel our Year 11 prom, which is such a shame, they really deserved a prom. However, I am really grateful that we got to spend the 7th June together celebrating. Now, we look to the future! Here are a few important notices for Year 11:
Sixth Form transition work – All Year 11 students are now part of a new Microsoft Team entitled ‘JRCS Year 11 Transition’. Here they can find taster work for each subject. I encourage all students intending to study at JRCS to have a look at the work for their chosen subjects so that they can get a good notion of what the subject is about.
Prom Awards – Just because we do not have a prom, it doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate those whom we had planned to. If you are a Year 11 student, please check your emails to vote.
Yearbook – We will still be having a yearbook, so please pay your full amounts as soon as possible. I am still waiting for several of you to send me an appropriate quote to include under your name. See the Year 11 weekly bulletin for the link.
Personal information – As a way of keeping in touch with Year 11 when they leave, we need personal email addresses and phone numbers. Again, please check the link in my emails to Year 11 to provide this information.
Finally, please ensure that if you are in Year 11 you are checking your emails regularly, this is the way that we will contact you about results/Sixth Form and more.
We look forward to welcoming you all back on the 12th August to collect your results!
Work Hard. Be Nice. Take Opportunities.

Head of Year 11
