25 Mar Showing our Support for Barking and Dagenham Carers
Amazing!
As part of our First Give project, we had to do a Social Action Day to raise awareness for our chosen charity, so we chose to do an activity day. The purpose of this was to raise awareness for Barking and Dagenham Carers and the work they do to help individuals who care for others while also raising money for our charity.
One of the charity’s aims is to allow young carers to take a day away from caring for their loved ones and spend time relaxing and taking part in some fun activities. Our event was held on the 16th March on Young Carers Action Day. Our event was held in Boothroyd Hall, we had a huge Tombola with a vast range of prizes as well as garden games. The event was open for all students and teachers at Jo Richardson Community School and everyone who took part had an amazing time.
We would like to say a special thank you to the Sixth Form team who supported us in organising the event, the teachers who helped run the event, Deivis and Sophie for volunteering to help during the day, and all the students who came along and took part. We could not have done it without you all. Altogether, we raised £230 for Barking and Dagenham Carers!
