23 Feb Suffragettes

100th Anniversary

Tuesday 7th February marked the 100th anniversary of some women achieving the right to vote through the Representation of the People Act in 1918.

On Wednesday 31st January five Year 7 students created and presented an assembly for other Year 7 students to celebrate and mark the occasion.  I would like to thank and congratulate the five students who showed great subject knowledge and effort:

Gift Alatishe (7E) Hadiyah Ashraf (7E), Mahhum Saqib (7E), Raihan Bousbaa (7J) and Aqsa Saleemi (7J).

We have a right

Women Women

We chant and chant till we get our rights,

We fight and fight till we see our rights.

You see people marching,

And shouting with big banners, shouting.

Women have a right, women have a right.

I am writing this poem to say thank you

For every woman who stood up there.

Rights

Because today is the 100th year since women had a right to vote.
