02 Nov U13 Barking and Dagenham Girls Rugby Festival
Barking RFC hosted the U13 girls tournament on Monday 15th October and we took a strong squad across the road to play 10 a side matches against three local schools. Our team consisted of girls from Year 7 and Year 8, some relatively new to the sport and some more experienced players. We won the first game against Barking Abbey B team by 4 tries and later went on to beat their A team by 2 tries.
Unfortunately, we lost to the eventual winners and hosts Robert Clack, however all the girls displayed the core rugby values throughout the day and I am proud to watch the girls developing their skills and knowledge of the game. There will be a second tournament in December when I hope to enter two girls teams into the competition as we continue to develop rugby as part of our PE curriculum. Well done to all the girls involved:
Grace Soane 7I, Aimee Matthews 7J, Beatrice Bukauskaite 7I, Frankie Garland 8D, Lola Oloyede 8F, Priscilla Collins 7G, Suzie Woods 7H, Destiny Rosier-Welch 8H, Harley Rogers 7H, Bethanie North 8C,Ella Turner 7G, Victory Ndibe 8A and Charlee Bromwich 7G.
Girls Rugby Club is on Thursdays after school on the school field from 3:15pm – 4:15pm with Coach Keith from Barking Rugby Club. There is also a girls only session for students aged 11-16 years every Monday 6:30pm – 7:30pm at Barking Rugby Club, with the opportunity to play fixtures on a Sunday.
