22 Nov Victory Services Club Visit
Thank you
The Year 11 Hospitality and Catering level 1/2 had an amazing trip on Wednesday 13th November to Oxford Street London. They had the opportunity to visit to the great food hall at Selfridges to see and sample the goods. It was an area of outstanding quality to show our students how to present food and to see how it was prepared. Then we went on to the Victory Services Club in Marble Arch where we met up with Mark Field, the Operations Director, who gave the students a brief but detailed talk on how the hotel and restaurant works. The students were very interested in how the systems worked and asked a great deal of questions about the history and why it was set up.
Our students had the pleasure of seeing how a fully functional kitchen works and they met up with Paul Maddock, the Executive Chef, who has a great deal of experience of working in a very busy kitchen that caters for over 600 people on a weekly service. I was so pleased with how the students both interacted with Paul and had shown great interest in the functions of the kitchen. Then we sat down to a three course lunch that was prepared by Paul’s team which was outstanding. Again, the students saw how a fine dining restaurant works and see how the front of house system works.
I would like to thank Ms Buonaiuto for her support and help with the preparation of this trip and for supporting me with my Hospitality and Catering students. I was so proud of my students for setting a very high standard in representing our school. I know you had a great day as you all had good smiles upon your faces!
