21 Jan West Ham Stadium Tour
A great rewards trip!
On the 16th December, just before the end of last term, 17 Year 7 students went to visit West Ham United Football Club’s stadium, The London/Olympic Stadium which is in the heart of Stratford.
The students began the trip with a stroll through the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and saw the ArcelorMittal Orbit, an observation tower and Britain’s largest piece of public art. They also witnessed the Copper Box Arena and the London Aquatics Centre, and finally reached the home of football, the London Stadium.
The JRCS students were taken through the history of the 2012 Olympics decision and the history of the football club. They were then taken to areas of the stadium they never knew existed, like the rich viewing seats with extra padded seats and inside dining for them while watching a football match. They also had access to the home team changing room, shirts such as Michail Antonio, Declan Rice and the world cup winning captain’s shirt from the great Bobby Moore were all on show. The Olympic running track was also on show for the students, and they jumped at the opportunity to run and stand on the same lane that Usain Bolt ran on. The tour was capped off with an amazing take away gift (NFL Multiple cup holders).
Overall, a great rewards trip for the Year 7 students. Thanks to Mrs Steadman and Ms Eastman for their amazing facilitating and support.
