13 Jul WNF Leaders’ and Daughters’ Dinner
On Monday 2nd July an inspirational event was hosted by HRH Countess of Wessex (pictured with Moyin Adetoye and Aiesha Francis) and the Women’s Network Forum at Ernst & Young LLP which brought together young women and business leaders across different industries. We were invited to attend through Ms Montague – D of E Manager. The dinner facilitated the conversation between young women and guest speakers who were women in different roles in the business world and we were encouraged to explore our career possibilities. Sophie Chandauka (Global COO of Morgan Stanley) identified that throughout our life we must fill up our backpack of dreams with all we hope to achieve and ensure we have dream catchers who can support us on our journey to fulfilling those big dreams despite any obstacles. Allie Schultz (Google Assistant Engagement Manager for Android partners) mentioned attributes needed to succeed were confidence and openness as she shared insight based on her experiences. She also advised it’s easier to excel in a friendly and accommodating company such as Google.
Mark Wilson (CEO Aviva) stated once more confidence is crucial to succeed as well as overcome imposter syndrome in which an individual doubts their accomplishments, and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a “fraud”, an issue which is relatable to most people. Overall, the event aimed to influence young women and it certainly did. So we hope that the young people of JRCS will be inspired to be the leaders in a business world with improved gender equality.
