08 Mar World Book Day
On Thursday 3rd March, a reading marathon was held to acknowledge World Book Day.
The reading marathon ran all day, every fifteen minutes a different student would read to keep the marathon going, there wasn’t a shortage of students willing to take part. A staged area was set up as a camping area with a tent, camping chairs, trees and leaves etc. It was a great day and students really enjoyed taking part, but the main focus of the day was to acknowledge ‘reading can be enjoyed’. Photos of the day can be found on the new school website.
World Book Day is celebrated all over the world by many different countries and hundreds of schools. It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. It’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world. (UNESCO -The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
Well done and thank you to everyone for a great day.
