30 Jun Year 11 Leavers Day!
Congratulations!
The time finally came last week to wave goodbye to our dear Year 11s. They have been a wonderful set of individuals who have so much talent and potential within. It has been an absolute pleasure to take them through their journey at KS4 and I can’t wait to welcome so many of them back for Sixth Form.
The day started with shirt signing in Main Street, where students got to come back together after weeks of only seeing each other in a group prior to their exams. Following this, it was onto the lines for the last time to await the ‘guard of honour’ where staff line the route to Boothroyd Hall to clap the Year 11s into the hall for the last time, this is in reference to when they are clapped out in Year 7 on their first day.
We then had an excellent assembly where we celebrated twelve students getting £100 for completing 100% attendance for 5 years, 18 students achieving the Gold Seagull in Year 11, ten best tutees from each form, our nominated Jack Petchey winners and of course, those who achieved specialist awards that will mean their name is on the walls of JRCS forever!
Finally, the day ended with the traditional balloon (biodegradable) release to signify the end of an era of JRCS history.
Can I just take this opportunity to thank Year 11 for all their hard work and determination throughout the exam season, they thrived when the pressure was on and every single one of them made me feel very proud.
We look forward to seeing them all at the prom on Monday 3rd July and for Sixth Form induction on Thursday 6th July.
Congratulations Year 11
