05 Jul Year 13 Media Careers Event
Well done!
A lucky group of Year 13 leavers took part in an exclusive opportunity to attend a media careers event run by HBO. Amidat, Anastasia and Jess took part in the incredibly exciting CrewHQ Careers Day featuring House of the Dragon on Monday 1st July.
The amazing day had an opportunity to watch Episode 3 on a cinema screen before its release, hear from an incredible Q&A panel of creatives behind House of the Dragon, have smaller breakout sessions where they got the chance to interact with Costume, Set Dec, Special Effects and Visual Effects crew members and then finally a time to network at the end of the day. The students received unbelievable insight into making a show of this scale. Amidat said “This day was so cool and fun” and Anastasia said “This was a brilliant way to start our summer!”
Jessica, who is continuing Media Studies at University, said “Jo Richardson has given me so many opportunities that has ignited my passion for media. Even though we have finished our exams, the school has still found opportunities for me that other people my age don’t get a chance to do. I’m really feeling the love right now.”
Ms Harland, Head of Media at JRCS, said “Mr Cully jumped at the chance to have our students attend this opportunity. It was an over 18 event so we had to get in contact with our Year 13 leavers who showed such maturity, respect and responsibility, travelling to London without teacher presence and interacting with media professionals as equals. I am very proud of these students and knew they would be brilliant at this event. I’d also like to thank Mr Cully and Ms Rooke for helping to arrange this trip.”
