Tuesday 17th July
Day 9

Today was quite a relaxed day we began by waking up at 6am and finished packing our bags ready to have breakfast at 7am. For breakfast we had eggs, noodles and toast it was really nice as usual; I had egg on toast. After breakfast we left almost immediately, we loaded all of our luggage on to the cars and made our way to the project site.
To see the work we had completed was incredible, I am so proud to be able to say I worked on something that has made such a big difference to a wonderful and deserving community. Everyone put in so much effort and hard work and I know that it has created a big difference for the lives of many individuals. After seeing the completed project we said our goodbyes to the people who helped us on the project and travelled to the services, where we met the buses that would then take us 4 hours back to Kota Kinabalu.
Along the drive back I saw breathtaking views that I will never forget, there were mountains of trees and beautiful landscapes, I’m so privileged to have been given this opportunity and so grateful. When we arrived at our hostel we were pleasantly surprised to see that the hostel was a much much higher quality than we had expected, it is just like a hotel and the rooms are really amazing. After we had settled at the hostel we were allowed to go out for a look around and for lunch. Me and my group ate at a very nice restaurant cafe which served a mix of Indian, Chinese and seafood. Later on in the evening we went for dinner and my group had roti which is a traditional dish here. We then chilled for the rest of the night ready for the exciting days ahead as we begin diving.
