The chicken pie was a culinary triumph! Well-fed children make happy children, and there were plenty of smiles on day 2, not least because the rain did not fall. Cavers took the extra challenge of the ‘the roof’ and many stars were given by the staff at Trewern as a result. Walkers caught site of the elegant red kite and took in the glorious views of the Brecon Beacons whilst canoers made good pace down the Welsh Canal and even managed to catch a glimpse of the sun. In the evening, with a belly full of chicken pie the students constructed ‘safety homes’ to protect their eggs from a 5 metre drop…unfortunately they were unsuccessful in protecting their eggs and the scramble for victory was shattered; like all the eggs.
