blog from Leader of the day – Paris Tankard

We woke up at 6.30, allocated people jobs which were successful. We managed to be leaving on time to get the the school. When we got there I spoke with the Headteacher, this was a struggle because we had different languages but we had a translator.
We allocated jobs throughout the day for example cleaning, painting and working with the children. Everybody did some of these jobs. We introduced ourselves to the children at the start of the day.
We we started on the cleaning of walls, doors and bars so we could then paint.
We spent a half hour in the classroom and tried our hardest to teach some English. The children were very grateful, especially when we taught some dance moves too!
We had an local food lunch consisting of beans, chicken, salsa and arroz (rice) plus some freshly cut coconuts and their water.
after project a shopping team went to buy food for dinner.
My favourite part of the day was seeing everyone relax at the end of a hard day – I was very proud with what we had achieved.
A story from the day was when a little boy snuck out of class to come and see us. He was entertained by our big white suits and we tried our best to talk to him!
Thanks for reading my post – we are all safe and I wish the next leaders good luck.
