After a more leisurely start from San Juan (8am), and pancakes &fruit for breakfast, we hoped onto a private mini- bus and made a journey of 90 minutes to Granada. This was our first visit to the city, whereas the other two groups had started their whole experience here after arriving 15 days ago.
The city seemed more vibrant and busy than Leon, we got dropped off at central square by the cathedral. It was at this point the quest for accommodation really started. Having done some research over the previous night I had a short list and a budget!
Now to find the hotels on strange streets!
We were relatively quick in locating Hotel Con Corazon – our priority from Lonely Planet. As we walked in, the first impression was not as expected – we were greeted with a lovely pool, meeting area and hammocks!
We were lucky enough to be able to get the rooms we needed, all doubles with air-conditioning and wifi!
When we got back to the group we teased that we could not get any accommodation but could not keep straight faces!
As we settled in Gabi & I went off in search of final evening meal venue with a cheeky ice cream on the way! The rest of the group were out exploring Granada.
We also found the market at central square which had a variety of cultural wares. Some of which found their way into our possession after a bit of haggling.
The pool was well used by the group and we also got in after the heat of investigating.
The group left for dinner at 6. The venue had lit fountains and we were placed in a nice covered part just behind them. Even though there was a delay between servings we managed to talk about our adventures. Having sorted out the bill a late night ice cream for those that wanted it was on the dessert menu.
Overall my leadership experience has been stressful but enjoyable. I have gained confidence using the phone for enquiries and bookings in another country. This experience has been amazing and has definitely made me a more confident person.
My quote for the whole trip is ” Who are you?”
