Team Managua have spent the day prepping before they set off to the volcanic region of western Nicaragua. After stocking up on supplies, the team have packed their trek bags and have hiking boots on, ready for the four-day hiking phase.
First up, the active Mt.Telica awaits, where the team hope to catch a glimpse of some live magma. On day two the group will hike to the summit of Cerro Negro before sledging down it at white-knuckle speeds of upto 80kmph! Day three the team will wake at 3:30am in order to see the sunrise from El Hoyo and then continue their trek along the Maribos volcanic chain. Lastly, they will complete another sunrise trek on Mt.Momotombo before cooling down in a volcanic lagoon.
Although feeling a bit tired, the group are now fully acclimatised and are working very well together as a team. Sabrina and Gabi’s favourite moment so far has been exploring the colonial town of León and experiencing the culture on offer. Jack is most looking forward to his trip down the volcano on aboard. Paris is looking forward to the working at the school for the team’s project phase which begins on Tuesday.
Team Managua, over and out! Nos hablamos despues!
