Friday 22nd July
On day 16 of their True Adventure, Team Managua made it back intact to Heathrow. Flight left Managua Nicaragua at midday their time and, with a transit at Houston, arrived just after midday in the UK.
It has been an amazing 16days of trials, challenges, laughter and smiles. So many stories to tell and proud accomplishments to talk about.
Team Managua have been just that, everyone has needed support at some stage and it was always there. Everyone has encountered a personal challenge and come through.
It has been a privilege to share these experiences with the students, to see them overcome tiredness and emotion and in some cases fear. For some being away from home for so long was a first, for others taking the lead in another country allowed them to flourish and grow.
The work at the project has left a positive message at the school and made a real impact. The trek has given some students a confidence about what is achievable and that by persevering the end does arrive!
The change in the students has been great to see, all are more confident and most look at things in a very different way.
I want to thank them for their company and humour. The amazing staff that came with me, Mr Cole, Ms Dormer, Mr Marks and lastly Joe Alexander, our True Adventure Leader, without whose tweaks the time would have proved more difficult.
Sorry if I did not get to see you at school when we arrived back.
So there it is the last blog from Team Managua 2016, hope you have enjoyed following us on our adventure.
Miss Campbell
