Blog from leader of the day Jack Riches
Surf was due to be up but an issue with booking companies meant plans had to change – however Team Managua did get to “surf” but in a far more leisurely way.
We were first treated to a political rally through San Juan whilst waiting for our activity. It is election year in Nicaragua.
Instead of boards we hired boats and went out to sea to view the wildlife and see the swell first hand. We were able to get to a secluded beach, jump off the boats and swim in. We used the incoming waves to body surf into the beach. We had hoped to snorkel but the visibility was not great. On the return journey we were watching out in the hope for a pod of dolphins but they did not want to play today! ?
We arrived back for lunch and took the opportunity to get some food and scout out restaurants for the evening meal.
The restaurant we ate at was on the beach front we a fabulous view as the light faded. We could see over the bay to where fishing boats were out in the sea with their lights on.
It seemed only right as leader that I be bold with my food choice so I selected Lobster! An excellent meal was had by all.
At the start of the day leadership was more challenging than I thought, however I persevered and found that with help from other students I gained more confidence and became a good leader by the end of the day. My personal journey today has been of real value.
Tomorrow we hit Granada for our final day.
